Node Types & Zones

Understanding the various participants in the anon0mesh decentralized network.

Every participant in the anon0mesh network contributes to its resilience. From mobile users to dedicated hardware, the network is built on the Proof of Relay principle.

User Nodes

Standard mobile devices running the anon0mesh app. They act as transient relays for nearby peers.

Shadow Nodes

Dedicated high-uptime hardware (e.g., @SHADOW_NODE_822) that orchestrates local zones.

Beacons

Stationary anchors with satellite or radio frequency links for remote scenarios.

Mesh Zones (ZN)

Nodes are organized into logical Zones based on proximity. For example, ZONE_ALPHA might cover a specific subway car or festival stage.

  • ZN_1 to ZN_9: Standard mesh segments.
  • RELAY_01: Designated primary gateways within a zone.
  • Shadow Nodes: Provide stable storage and heavy compute lifting within a zone.
"Shadow Nodes reorganize nearby nodes into optimized relay patterns, ensuring MESH_RELAY_ACTIVE status even in high-crowd environments."

Hardware Requirements

While user nodes only require a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, Shadow Nodes can run on Raspberry Pi 4/5 or dedicated Arcium-compatible server blades using arxOS.

Incentivizing the Heal

A mesh is only as strong as its participants. anon0mesh uses a built-in incentive layer to ensure people are rewarded for keeping the network healthy and "healing" gaps in coverage.

  • Relay Fees: Every time your device helps pass a message or a trade, you earn a tiny fraction of the transaction fee (paid in SOL or stablecoins).
  • Proof of Relay: The protocol automatically tracks which nodes are providing the most reliable paths. High-quality relayer nodes are prioritized and earn higher rewards.
  • Healing Bonuses: When the network detects a "dead zone," rewards for nodes in that area are temporarily boosted to encourage people to move there or set up Beacons.

Become a Beacon

Beacons are the backbone of the long-range network. By setting up a dedicated Beacon, you provide a stable anchor that helps "heal" the network across large distances.

Why run a Beacon?

  • Passive Income: Earn protocol fees 24/7 without needing to use your phone.
  • Community Support: Provide critical connectivity for your neighborhood, festival, or local event.
  • Early Access: Beacon operators get priority access to new features and "Day One" rewards.
